Cheerfulness

The mother of a disciple of Swami Vishwananda told us this amazing experience.:
"The stories of Krishna stealing butter have strong parallels with Swami Vishwananda. He steals the hearts of humans with his abundance of love and devotion, a perfect example of his teachings. His cheerfulness, jokes and humour were so very attractive when we first meet him in 1998.
His joy when experiencing snow for the first time, in the Swiss Alps, nearly made him a snowman with all his playful rolling around. As we went up Schilthorn mountain - which is over 2’000 m (over 6’300 ft) high, it began to snow. We were disappointed as we wanted Swami to enjoy the marvellous view of the other mountains, but Swami said, "Don't worry." As he said it, the sun came through and in no time the clouds sank deeper and deeper.
We also experienced Swami Vishwananda’s direct relationship with animals. A mountain bird stood close to him and hopped nearer and nearer up onto his outstretched hands.
While we were travelling, by car or by train, Swami always had a bhajan on his lips; exactly like Krishna and his flute. This always put us in a good mood.
In the kitchen the exuberance was never missing. We exchanged Indian and Swiss recipes, cooked together and also laughed a lot. I was always very touched, as Swami was always helping: with cooking, cleaning, washing the dishes and drying. He helped with everything. For him this was the most natural thing in the world! At the same time, we sang and laughed a lot. "

  1. I met Sri Swami Vishwananda for the first time at His birthday celebrations in June 2008. I was not looking for a guru, I just wanted to meet this spiritual Master of whom I had heard something from my friend who wanted to go and visit Him. But something really life changing happened to me during those few days which I spent in Steffenshof with my friends. In my soul I recognized Him as truly an Avatar, divine Master and not only that but without any doubt I also realized that He is my Sadguru, the one who I will want to follow for the rest of my life and give everything to Him, To God. I didn´t even talk many sentences with Him so this realization had nothing to do with mind, it was totally an inner realization deep in my heart and soul and so strong that already the next day after meeting Him I wanted to tell Him that I knew that He is my Guru and to ask Him if He would accept me as His disciple. He gave me an opportunity to do this and He asked me if I already had a guru. I was confused why He was asking this because I didn’t have any guru and of course He would know that (because already then I knew that He is omniscient). But then I said that only Jesus Christ has always been important in my life and as I looked into His eyes while saying this I was kind of shocked because I could see that Christ Himself was looking me back! I will never forget that moment and the golden light that came from His eyes. I then truly realized that He is everything: Christ, Krishna, Babaji, even Divine Mother. Everything is in Him and He constantly shows in wonderful ways to me His omniscience, that He knows my every thought and answers to all my prayers.
